At the York County SPCA, we care for hundreds of animals each year who face medical challenges, and among them are pets living with diabetes who rely on specialized treatment, patience, and love to thrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While a diabetes diagnosis may sound intimidating at first, diabetic pets can\u2014and do\u2014live long, happy, healthy lives. With proper management and a supportive family, these incredible animals often become some of the most grateful, affectionate companions you\u2019ll ever meet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What Is Diabetes in Pets?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just like in humans, diabetes in cats and dogs occurs when their bodies cannot regulate blood sugar properly.
